Athletics?
Hey guys! I need another athletic event to go to for FYRST Seminar, and was wondering what sports are going on and when. I figured this would be the right place to go for help. I won't be able to make it to the football game, but any other ideas would be awesome! Anything after Saturday I can go to.

Warm-ups
Most people underestimate how important a warm-up actually is. Why do we do warm-ups though? Warm-ups are beneficial for your over all health and will increase the quality of your workout. To perform a proper warm up, it must increase your heart rate, breathing, and body temperature. People shouldn't be sweating buckets during a warm-up, but on the verge of sweating. It must also be progressive, dynamic, and most importantly FUN. By progressive, people should slowly work their way up when doing a warm-up to increase breathing, heart rate, and body temperature. A proper warm-up must also be dynamic, changing it up. Not doing the same thing the whole time. It should include using multiple large muscle groups as well. Lastly, having fun is the most important part in doing a proper warm-up. If you don't plan on it being fun, how much are you really going to enjoy doing the whole workout? It motivates you and sets the tone for the main event. So next time you go to the gym, try these tips out and see if you find yourself enjoying your workout more!

FITT Principles
In all exercises, you should have a set goal of what you would like to accomplish during that time. The FITT guidelines will help you out tremendously in setting up any type of exercise program. Here is what FITT stands for:
-Frequency
-Intensity
-Time
-Type
Frequency- How often a person does physical activity. Most every day, people should be engaged in moderate physical activity. Vigorous physical activity should be performed 3-5 days a week.
Intensity-When you are doing moderate physical activity, your target heart rate should be in between 50% -70%. When your target heart rate falls in between 70%-85%, you are doing vigorous physical activity.
Time- Is the length in which you perform the physical activity. Adults need at least 2 hours and 30 minutes every week of moderate physical activity. They also need two or more days that work all major muscle groups. For vigorous physical activity, they need at least 1 hour and 15 minutes per week.
Type- Is the specific type of physical activity chosen based on the components of health-related fitness. A person could do aerobic, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility. For instance if you wanted to go on a jog, that would be considered aerobic fitness.
Hopefully you will be able to use these principles to help you have a better workout!
